there are 2 main ways to prepare for friends museum: (1) engaging with your art, and (2) engaging with one another via this website.
how to create + submit your art
1. make something! whatever you’d like. if you prefer, you can submit something you’ve made in the past. looking for ideas? check out the 
page
2. submit your art — through this form you’ll tell me what you’re submitting (size, medium, etc.) and when you’ll drop it off & pick it up. this step allows me to plan the layout of the exhibit and also get the right info for the placard by your piece.
3. drop off your piece/s at my home in somerville in the weeks leading up to friends museum. we can also arrange for me to pick it up. i will bring all the art to the venue and install it.
4. you can either bring home your piece/s directly from friends museum, or pick it up from my home later.
how to engage on this site
you’re reading this, so presumably you’ve clicked around a bit already. the purpose of this site is to prepare us for friends museum not only logistically, but relationally.
for the longest time, i assumed parties were the places to meet people. but more often than not, i have found that to be false. am i wrong? we go to an event for no more than 2 hours. we probably haven’t prepared for this event for more than the x minutes it took to get ready and travel there. when we’re there, we mostly talk to the people we already know. if we do meet someone new, we might exchange contact information, but we (I) almost certainly don’t follow up.
this routine exhausts me. i don’t think i can handle many more rooms of people my age standing around on our phones. so– i’ve organized this site to help us meet each other before the event itself, and also to help us follow up after:
– on the me page, you can create a profile. this is also where you can send/receive direct messages.
– on the us page, you’ll find chatrooms where we can chat with each other. want input on what piece to make/submit? ask the “art” room! want to discuss “the odyssey”? message the “non-art” room! we’ll have a follow-up room after the event for any reflections
